Dr. Jon Burchell joined The University of Sheffield Management School in January 2005. Previously he had worked as a BRESE Research Lecturer at Brunel University's Business School. He gained his PhD from the Politics Department at the University of Sheffield and worked as a lecturer in Politics and Sociology in the School of Social Science at Liverpool John Moores University for five years. His early research work focused upon the evolution of Green parties and the growth of environmental/anti-capitalist movements across Europe. Jon's current research interests focus around the impact of social and environmental concerns upon business strategy. In particular, the impact of CSR and the role of stakeholders in shaping and defining the concept of a 'responsible business', the development and application of sustainable development, and the challenge of anti-corporate campaigns. He is currently working on an ESRC funded research project CRADLE (Corporate Responsibility Action through Dialogue Learning and Exchange) which focuses upon the impact of dialogue upon CSR development. This has involved collaborative work with a range of organisations including Business in the Community, Global Action Plan and the Environment Council. He is also developing research into the role of the EU as an international actor for sustainable development. Jon´s teaching interests are similarly in the areas of corporate social responsibility, business ethics and sustainable development. Selected Recent PublicationsBURCHELL, J. & J.
