Biography:

Al Scott specializes in developing business profiles for emerging companies in the Regeneration (regenerative medicine) and Nanobiotechnology sectors. Primary efforts entail identifying and establishing strategic partnerships in non-US markets. Recent activities include continuing outreach activities in mainland China. Other acquired experiences include ensuring Sarbanes Oxley Corporate Compliance for US companies.

Mr. Scott earned a baccalaureate degree in chemical engineering from the University of Nebraska and MSc in Biology (Neuroimmunology) from the University of California, San Diego. He was also educated at the London School of Economics (Certificate, International Relations). 

 
Relevant Industry Experiences and Activities:

  • Assisted and coordinated GMP, FDA compliance; Improved operational procedures and policies for manufacturer of tuberculosis diagnostics.
  • Analyzed and monitored US product technology (human skin cell systems) licensing agreements; Provided technical and strategic support to Japanese JV licensee; Conducted QC analyses on products; Trained and supervised personnel in lab procedures and culture techniques.
  • Launch of company Chinese-content website in August 2007
  • Participant of SAPA Business Delegation including 2007 International Conference for BioEconomy, Tianjin China; SAPA Beijing Forum/Workshop; Shanghai Bio-Forum 2007
  • Licensing Executives Society Nanotechnology Subcommittee 2006-2007
  • Early-Stage and Emerging Technologies Committees for Biotech 2006
  • Coordinated high level meeting between Ministry of Science, Technology - Republic of Thailand and Nanotechnology Institute; resulting in participation in BioThailand Conference 2005
Recent Projects:

  • Advised Hong Kong-based manufacturer and supplier of veterinary and human clinical avian influenza virus diagnostics specific for H5N1. Included on-going collaboration with US FDA to introduce clinical diagnostic for potential use and distribution in the US marketplace.  Efforts also encompassed the facilitation and coordination of cooperative relationships with US academic centers for US government Biodefense initiatives.
  • Presented high-quality expressions of interest to developmental stage chondrocytes-based company spun out from John Hopkins University School of Medicine for international strategic alliances including the Molecular Science Group of CSIRO, Australia’s premier research institute, Molecular Toxicology Group, Merck KGaA, and a major Japanese diversified conglomerate.
  • Advised Pittsburgh-based tissue regeneration developmental stage (human hepatocytes) company in investment capital procurement and international strategic partnerships efforts.
